PUTRAJAYA: AROI Dee Thai Restaurant at Palm Garden Hotel, IOI Resort City, has moved to Palms Café Terrace area.

The terrace wing of the restaurant sports a brand new roof with beautifully decorated rattan lanterns and garden lamps, with lush greenery all around.

Aroi Dee means “good taste” in Thai and that is just what the a la carte menu promises to deliver.

In charge of the kitchen is Chef Seeri Din Ren, who has 25 years of experience in Thai restaurants in Malaysia and Singapore. He also worked for the Sultan of Brunei for four years.

The red tom yam soup is a top menu favourite. The soup, which comes with a choice of seafood, prawns or chicken, has the right balance of sour and sweet, with just the right amount of herbs and spices.

Served on its own or better yet, paired with the som tam (papaya salad), it is certain to get the meal off to an appetising start.

For seafood lovers, there are deep-fried prawn with golden salted egg, spicy stir-fried baby squid, Nyonya sambal petai prawns, and deep-fried seabass with three flavours, among others.

A hot new dish to try is the Thai sauteed prawn with roasted chilli.

For poultry, the enche kabin (Nyonya-style fried chicken) with special marinade is a great choice.

Other selections include stir-fried chicken with Thai basil and stir-fried chicken with chilli paste.

A Thai meal is incomplete without a red or a green curry. Both versions, with chicken or beef, are equally delicious at Aroi Dee.

Recommended items in the beef section are the succulent and tasty Nyonya-style sizzling beef, fried beef with Thai black pepper, and stir-fried beef with basil.

The menu also sports a selection of items in individual servings, such as fried rice with pineapple, tom yam soup with noodles, and Nyonya fried rice with salted fish and vegetables.

For dessert, try the sticky rice with mango, water chestnut in coconut cream or bubur cha cha.

The restaurant is open from noon to 2.30pm for lunch daily and 6.30pm to 10.30pm for dinner daily except Sundays.

Meanwhile, The Courtyard at the centre of Palm Garden Hotel is an al fresco garden atrium that is perfect for a light snack and drink in the afternoon or after work.

Pizza with three local toppings — chicken satay, Thai seafood and beef rendang — is currently on promotion.

One may also order from the coffee house’s a la carte menu.

The Courtyard is open from 11am to 11pm daily.
