KUALA LUMPUR: ALL inspections carried out by both Chery Auto Malaysia's (Chery) team and Puspakom have returned no adverse findings in regards to the recent viral brake issue.

Chery in a statement says their findings confirm that the said vehicle is indeed safe, and the brake system is of satisfactory as indicated in the Puspakom test result.

The investigation was carried out in response to a viral complaint on April 6 where an Omoda 5 owner vented her frustrations and anger towards the Chinese automotive company over faulty brakes that not only failed on her, but was not addressed despite her bringing the issue up numerous times at the company's service centre.

Throughout the investigation process Chery said its customer care team has been in close contact with the customer and have kept her updated while Chery's technical team conducted a thorough investigation on her vehicle which she claimed had faulty brakes.

Additionally, the vehicle was also sent to Puspakom, whereby a comprehensive examination was conducted by the vehicle inspection company, for an impartial assessment.

The 10-point inspection at Puspakom includes a brake test to evaluate efficiency, dynamic imbalance, run-out, residual force, and parking brake to ensure optimal braking performance.

"The customer has been informed and our team has explained to her of the results. We have also provided her with a comprehensive report detailing the findings of all our inspections.

"Chery Group, including Chery Auto Malaysia, prioritises safety above all else. All Chery products distributed in more than 80 countries meet the highest standards before delivery to our customers, reflecting our commitment to their safety and satisfaction," the statement reads.
