ISUZU Malaysia's award-winning pick-up truck sets a new record in 2023 by surpassing the company's previous all-time high.

The D-Max sold 9,650 units last year, which is a significant 439 units over 2022's 9,211 units sold.

With two consecutive years of record sales in Malaysia, Isuzu says this reaffirms the model's impressive design and features that have revolutionized the pick-up truck market while earning itself a growing global fan base.

Consistently strong demand for the model has also sees the brand rise to the No.2 position in Sabah, Kedah and Pahang in the pick-up truck segment and raised the No.3 position nationwide with a 16.6 per cent market share.

"Interest in this model has remained consistently high thanks to its good features, excellent driving character, versatile operation and impressive value for money since the third-generation model was introduced into Malaysia in 2021.

"This new model has expanded our customer base by increasing our conquest sales by 185 per cent while retaining our strong core customer base," said chief executive officer Shunsuke Okazoe.

"It (D-Max) has been a revelation for the brand as it combines the best of Isuzu's engineering capability with the modern sophistication and mindful ergonomics that customers today demand. This makes it a very capable yet liveable pick-up truck that satisfies every pick-up user's needs. It is a truck for all," he added.

Out of the eight variants available the 1.9-litre Standard variant remains the popular choice once again having contributed 28 per cent in sales. The variant was said to be particularly popular due to its modest engine displacement that offers the benefit of lower road tax and lower running costs yet offering spirited performance from its impressively generous power and torque output.

Demand for the flagship X-Terrain variant also continued on a positive uptrend in 2023.

It recorded a massive 24.5 per cent grow since its launch, reportedly for its overall package including performance, a full suite of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 7-year unlimited mileage warranty.
