KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Beyond Auto has unveiled a limited edition BYD Atto 3 in celebration of the brand's first anniversary in the country.

Limited to 500 units, the anniversary edition is an exclusive body kit that has the Atto 3 in a lowered stance with sportier accents.

Part of the kit includes an updated front bumper lip, front spoiler, front bumper panels, side mirror covers, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, dechromed window panels, side-step panels and C-pillar panels.

It also boasts a unique Boulder Grey and Ski White colour scheme that is available only for the Extended Atto 3 variant.

During the first anniversary customer appreciation event, BYD Malaysia managing director Eagle Zhao said the company is filled with gratitude for the warm reception and enthusiasm from the Malaysian market.

"The success of the Atto 3, which is currently among the top selling electric vehicle (EV) models in Asia, followed by the rapid introduction of the BYD Dolphin in July to demonstrate the growing appetite for electric vehicles in Malaysia," he said.

The Dolphin is the brand's second all-electric vehicle for the nation's passenger car market.

The Chinese automaker's journey in the country began with the launch of the Atto 3 one year ago.

At the time it received an overwhelming response with over 1,000 orders placed within the first 10 days, with 100 units delivered during the initial period.

It continued to break records by delivering 1,000 units of the electric vehicle within the first 100 days of its launch.

In July 2023, BYD established itself as Southeast Asia's leading EV manufacturer.

Within a year the company has established a nationwide network, comprising state-of-the-art showrooms and service centres in the Klang Valley, including: AraDamansara, Glenmarie, TREC Kuala Lumpur, SetiaAlam, Putrajaya, Balakong, and Cheras.

This network ensures accessibility, convenience, and top-notch sales and aftersales services.

Outside the Klang Valley, company has expanded its presence to northern regions such as Alor Setar and Sungai Petani in Kedah, Penang Gurney, Butterworth, Ipoh, the southern region at Mid Valley Southkey Mall in Johor Bahru, and East Malaysia at Kuching OneCity Mall.

BYD boasts 14 showrooms and has enlisted 14 dealers nationwide to date. The phase three recruitment of dealers has been initiated with the aim of expanding to additional regions.

It also worked to enhanced its customer service offerings by focusing on its digital initiatives and introducing several aftersales service packages, including the Service Standard and Service Plus packages earlier this year.

The year also saw Sime Darby Beyond joining forces with Scientex Bhd to formalise their commitment to championing the widespread adoption of EVs and seamlessly integrate EV charging facilities into affordable housing developments.

"BYD's first year in Malaysia has been nothing short of extraordinary. The overwhelming response and achievements signify a paradigm shift in our automotive industry," said Sime Darby Motors Southeast Asia managing director Jeffrey Gan.

"The collaboration between Sime Darby Motors Malaysia and BYD has not only introduced cutting-edge electric vehicles but also redefined customer expectations.

"We are not just celebrating a year but a future where sustainability, innovation, and customer satisfaction seamlessly converge," he added.

In conjunction with the first anniversary celebration, Sime Darby Beyond is holding seasonal offers where customers can make their bookings before Dec 31 and enjoy exclusive limited time offering.

Promotion options including a free wallbox, charging credits, or a three-year service package, exclusive rebates and a chance to visit BYD headquarter in Shenzhen China.

The BYD Atto 3 Anniversary Limited Edition comes with an introductory price at RM173,800, with initial deliveries to customers scheduled for early 2024.
