KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia launches its first dedicated body repair and paint service facilities at Federal Auto Cars, Glenmarie and Sime Darby Swedish Auto, Ara Damansara.

Federal Auto Cars Glenmarie, and Sime Darby Motors Centralised Body and Paint Centre are the first two Volvo service centres in Malaysia to be aligned with the Volvo Certified Damage Repair Centre (VCDR) standards.

The centre focuses on providing quick and efficient body repair and paint services through the use of advanced tools and equipment combined with strict adherence to the standard Volvo processes.

Measuring at 11,133 sq ft, each of these facilities can handle up to a volume of 1,260 vehicles per year.

As the second country in the region to introduce VCDR, Volvo Cars APEC head Nick Connor said the launch further realizes the brand's vision in offering the highest standards of after-sales care to their customers.

Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Charles Frump added that the introduction within the brand's dealer network enables their customers to enjoy vehicles with a lifelong lifespan.

"We want our customers to walk away with a Volvo car in complete peace of mind knowing that we are ready to provide them with Volvo's international standard of care for their vehicles," said Frump.

The VCDR standard integrates the use of sustainable technology for their body and paint repair services, such as a low-pressure ventilation system with automatic controls that reduces the emission of carbon dioxide, emission of microscopic particles, and energy consumption.

Additionally, the machinery utilises batteries when heating the electric system. More than 80 per cent of the air will be sucked in through a filtration system that reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

The use of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in paint is now replaced with a water-based paint to reduce employee's exposure to hazardous chemicals.

"We aim to continue delivering the best quality service and offerings to our customers. This includes ramping up the sustainability of our operations to minimise environmental impact, while maintaining service excellence.

"As such, we are pleased to adopt the VCDR standard for Volvo vehicles at our Sime Darby Motors Centralised Body and Paint facility, in line with our environment, social and governance's initiative to lower carbon transition, continuously invest in solutions and inspire meaningful change," said Sime Darby Motors Malaysia retail and distribution managing director Jeffrey Gan.

Federal Auto Holdings Berhad chairman Wong Fay Lee adds that they are committed towards delivering excellent service quality and safe vehicles to its customers as an an integral part of the Volvo network in Malaysia.

"We place as much if not more emphasis on climate sustainability in our business strategies and decisions in today's environment. Therefore, we wholeheartedly embrace the entire VCDR concept for its environmentally friendly equipment, as well as efficient workflow and processes," Wong added.
