LANGKAWI will reveal a new attraction soon, that promises a legendary experience featuring the island's magical creatures.

Set to open in May, Dream Forest Langkawi will turn a more than 100 million-year-old prehistoric forest into a canvas where art comes to life at night.

Located at the foot of majestic Gunung Raya, Dream Forest will take you on a leisurely 1.2km trek through the forest of Lubuk Semilang, where you'll discover flying lemurs, dusky leaf monkeys, the Sumatran toad and more.

When the sun goes down, the trail will come alive with tales of Tasik Dayang Bunting, Merong Mahawangsa and the Giants of Langkawi in an interactive adventure for visitors.

Conceptualised and developed by Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, an all-Malaysian team of the best creative, technical and construction talents was assembled to bring this unique concept to life.

The immersive experience will come to life with multi-sensory technology, projection mapping, sophisticated lighting and mesmerising soundscapes.

"The forest will transform into a 6.3ha natural theatrical space welcoming you to experience and interact with stories told through projection mapping on trees and surroundings," said Tiara, who is president of Enfiniti Group.

Dream Forest Langkawi started in 2019 as a very different project. It was one of Enfiniti's projects that were halted by the pandemic.

"This was part of a plan to revitalise and reinvigorate the beautiful former Kampung Buku of Langkawi," Tiara said, adding that the proposal took a different direction after the team decided to make a "pandemic-proof" project.

The team had to rethink the concept and consider how visitors' journey could be enhanced and elevated with technology and automation in a way that works with the natural forest landscape as responsibly and respectfully as possible.

Open-air nature-based attractions can help visitors feel safer as the space allows for social distancing as they celebrate and appreciate the natural beauty of Malaysian flora and fauna.
