YOUNG visitors to Sunway Theme Parks now have their own membership programme.

Designed to reinspire the future of learning for kids ages five to 12, the Explorer Rangers programme has 52 outdoor lessons a year at both parks - Sunway Lagoon in Kuala Lumpur and Lost World Of Tambun in Perak.

This programme covers a variety of themes related to wildlife and the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs).  Membership is priced at RM198 per year, and RM59 for a single programme.

On top of that, the group  collaborates with several of Malaysia's largest conglomerates and governmental institutions including the Ministry of Education, Sunway Education Group, Enrich Junior, Maybank and many more.

This collaboration is aimed to cultivate the optimum "outdoor laboratory" for youth to engage in research projects, environmental conservation, and a truly innovative classroom setting.

Initially originated from the "Junior Rangers Program" which was initiated two years ago for Lost World Of Tambun, the new membership programme is an ingenious brainchild of Calvin Ho.

"What makes this program truly stand out from the rest is its unique implementation of the in-situ learning where young rangers get to interact with exotic animals on site," says Ho, adding that the programme aims to nurture young children to be proactive change makers.

He hopes that these collective classes will inspire change again for a brighter, more sustainable future.

This programme offers a variety of immersive and engaging practical sessions where the environmental parameters will have a direct linkage to the syllabus being taught.

In situ learning is an extremely valuable pedagogical concept that engages different levels of sensory stimulation that help students observe, learn and understand complex processes in a more exciting and efficient way.

In addition to the educational programmes, Explorer Rangers programme also gives young rangers a glimpse into Sunway Theme Parks' most renowned conservation initiatives.

Amongst these include Sunway Lagoon's Upcycled Floating Island and Sunway Lost World Of Tambun's Tin Valley.

This initiative is also made feasible through Sunway Theme Parks' sponsorship to the Ministry of Education valued at RM330 thousand ringgit, which will benefit selected B40 schools through the ministry's 'Sekolahku Sejahtera' campaign.
