LOOKING out of the huge floor-to-ceiling window of our dining area (yes, you heard me right, it is a dining area that comes complete with an eight-seater dining table), I see a lively sight of the KLCC Park.

Our Club Suite, which is a corner room located on the 28th floor, has a panoramic view of the park and the bustling Jalan Pinang.

We have booked a one night stay to experience the Suite Treat at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, which offers a complimentary connecting Deluxe room.

The promo is perfect for a family with young kids, as the suite is already super spacious - and with the free connecting room, everyone will get a comfortable night's sleep!

CLUB BENEFITS

Very homely, the Club Suite that we are staying in features a comfortable living room with unobstructed views of the city, a powder room, a dining area as well as a kitchenette on the left part of the suite.

The kitchen, although small in size, is complete with a microwave, a refrigerator as well as a hot plate stove (for guests who are on a long stay), besides the typical hotel amenities such as coffee machines, and tea-making facilities.

In fact, the kitchen really comes in handy for a family with an infant whose home-cooked, pre-packed lunch and dinner need to be kept cool in a fridge and heated up before meal time.

Meanwhile, on the left side of the suite layout is the cosy bedroom area which is enormous!

The bedroom is tastefully designed with rich wood furniture which gives it a lavish vibe which includes a plush king-bed, a vanity table, and a reading sofa at a corner.

Besides the bedroom, there is also a walk-in closet as well as a jaw-dropping huge en-suite bathroom that adds up the lux feel to the whole staycation.

The bathroom is one of my favourite parts of the suite. Not only it is so-dreamy and spacious, it is also made entirely of marble - black marble flooring and gold marble walls, a unique colour combination!

It also features his and her vanity units such as double sinks, a walk-in double showers and a separate toilet room.

I also love the luxury Dyptique amenities dispensers in the shower (which smells amazing!), which is a part of Mandarin Oriental's continued efforts to eradicate single-use plastic in the property.

The complimentary toothbrush provided also wows me, as it is made of bamboo wood, and uses minty tablets instead of tube toothpaste.

Oh, it also has a built-in whirlpool tub with a view of the city complete with a TV! Putting on a cute swimming suit on my eight-month old child, filling up the tub with warm bubbly water, switching on Nickelodeon on the TV - voila, her own private pool!

However, the hotel also boasts an infinity pool on the third floor, which is where the recreation centre is located including two tennis courts.

The Suite Treat promo is valid for all suite bookings and guests will also get the additional Club benefits such as personalised service on check-in and check-out process at the Club Lounge on Level 24, as well as early check-in at 10am, and late check-out at 4pm.

Club guests will also be able to enjoy the Club Lounge as they offer complimentary Afternoon Tea from 2.30pm till 4.30pm, Evening Cocktail from 5pm till 7pm, and all day club beverage menu including soft drinks, coffee, and teas.

On weekends, Club guests are also invited to have breakfast at the Club Lounge, for more intimate and quiet dining. In fact, there are specially created family seating areas at the lounge for you to have a family time.

ORIENTAL DINING

An oriental stay calls for an Oriental dining experience, and here at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, one must definitely go for one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city, the Lai Po Heen.

The restaurant offers a grand atmosphere with high ceilings, ornate chandeliers and beautiful parquet flooring. It also has seven private dining rooms offering exclusive ambience for private gatherings.

At the entrance, guests can enjoy watching their illustrious chefs showcase their skills in an open kitchen, effortlessly preparing signature delights.

Specialising in classic Cantonese cuisine, I am excited to try out the dim sum varieties (which is also their specialty), but at the same time contemplating trying out its Chef recommended dishes.

Unfortunately, the tourmaline dim sum set and ala-carte are only available for lunch hour, and for dinner, they provide an extensive menu, which I honestly have trouble choosing since everything in the menu sounds so appetising.

Thank God, a helpful waiter helps me to explain ones that I'm interested in, including telling us about the portion to make sure we don't over-order.

I order some of the Chef's recommendations which are the Sabah Ming Prawns sautéed with oriental butter sauce (RM140), Kung Pao Chicken which is a plate of diced boneless chicken wok fried with dried chilies (RM52), Homemade Organic Bean Curd sautéed with asparagus and Nameko mushrooms (RM68).

My favourite is definitely Sabah Ming Prawns, served in  creamy and buttery sauce which goes perfectly with our fried rice option - the Fragrant Scallops Rice (RM88) which is a portion for four people.

For dessert, I highly recommend Lai Po Heen's favourite pick which is the Salted Egg Ice Cream with red bean paste - a sweet and rich ice cream with a hint of saltiness. I thought I wouldn't like the taste but I ended up liking it, and finished up a whole bowl.

MORNING VIBE

Mosaic Restaurant is the hotel's all-day dining restaurant serving a delicious mix of local and international cuisine, complemented by interactive live cooking stations and a large dessert bar.

Located on the ground floor of the hotel, it has ample space (even after social distancing) that expands throughout the Lounge on the Park, during breakfast to accommodate more guests.

But, what impresses me is the variety! It has Chinese, Malay and Indian choices.

But the Indian cuisine in the morning is extensive, there are Briyani, Tandoori, and even small Naan breads.

Another interesting thing at the restaurant is the edible honeycomb, which you can cut and have it just like that - or put it on a slice of bread and butter.

However, I do recommend that you come in early for breakfast, as the restaurant could be super packed at around 9am.
