When it comes to Mexican street food, taco always comes to mind. It's a simple staple food that is easy to eat and 'healthy' as it is filled with well… everything - grains, proteins, vegetables and dairy!
Although I have a few shops that I go to for my taco fix, I have always wanted to try out Taco Bell especially when their outlets are located in Cyberjaya and Cheras, which is quite a drive from where I live.
So, when the famous taco chain finally opened up a new outlet at Tropicana Gardens Mall in Kota Damansara, last month, I was beyond excited.
The new outlet brings the craveable Mexican-inspired cuisine and unique food experience closer to its fans, foodies and residents living in Petaling Jaya and Damansara.
Custom-designed to deliver the full Taco Bell experience to its customers, diners are all in to enjoy the youthful vibe of iconic decor features such as the rainbow-coloured ceilings, exciting lighting features, vibrant signages and much more, across the 85-seater restaurant.
These features create a great Instagram-worthy ambience, embracing Taco Bell's #LiveMás #LiveKawKaw spirit of making everyday extraordinary.
As with all other Taco Bell restaurants, this outlet includes an open-kitchen theatre to allow fans to watch their meals being prepared, free high-speed WiFi access throughout the restaurant, and multiple charging stations.
Since it's just 20 minutes away from my home, I figured, why not check it out (and go all out)!
And… here are five of my favourite Taco Bell picks.
TACO SUPREME
If you like crunchy - you have got to try out the Taco Supreme! I have to say, this is my absolute favourite because it's crunchy, and so satisfying as the inside is filled with so many toppings! Made with freshly fried crunchy corn tortilla shell (or soft flour tortilla), you can choose your protein of either seasoned ground beef (my pick), ground chicken, grilled chicken or if you're vegetarian, go for the black bean.
The mixture of fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream as well as the signature hot sauce makes it more delicious!
Grab a combo and you'll be served with either Mexican fries of Nacho Chips with a choice of beverages.
CHICKEN QUESADILLA
For the cheese fans, I highly recommend the Chicken Quesadilla. Such a classic pick, the quesadilla are basically grilled flour tortillas packed with melted mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend, topped with grilled chicken and the creamy jalapeno sauce. It's rich, but the portion is just nice and not too much.
LOADED NACHOS
Okay, if you come with a friend (or two), make sure you order the Loaded Nachos which is a shareable size meal perfect for appetisers.
It is basically Mexican seasoned Nacho chips piled high with guacamole, pico de gallo salsa, sour cream, warm nacho cheese sauce and your choice of protein - seasoned ground beef, ground chicken, grilled chicken or black bean.
A little advice, these are best eaten fresh before it gets soggy.
CHICKSTAR
The Chickstar is quite a unique meal, nothing that I have seen before - because the wrap literally looks like a star, and dare I say that it tastes like star-meal too!
The inside is filled with crispy chicken strips (which is tender but crispy on the outside), fresh lettuce, pico de gallo salsa, flavorful kickin' sauce and warm nacho cheese sauce.
Oh, and best having it immediately while the chicken strips are still crispy and hot.
TACO BELL SPARKLERS
While many of you will go for the typical soft drinks which have free refills, I highly recommend you to try the Taco Bell signature sparklers.
There are two flavours - summer mint and strawberry delight.
My pick is the refreshing summer mint, which tastes almost like mojito mocktail. It goes great with heavy meals like Chickstar!
