EACH day, more and more selfless Malaysians are stepping forward to offer their support and care to our dedicated medical staff who are constantly working tirelessly, putting their own health at risk for others during this COVID-19 pandemic.

These are some of the good Samaritans who either are on their own accord or collaborating with NGOs to extend helping hands to the frontliners, both the medical staff and the police.

SEMBANG CAFE

First started with its lunch contributions to neighbourhood Thompson Hospital, the cafe which is located at Kota Damansara now includes two hospitals (Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang and Hospital Banting), three police stations (Bilik Gerakan Bukit Aman, IPD Petaling Jaya and IPD Kajang) and First Ambulance service.

“Now that the Movement Control Order (MCO) has been extended until April 14, it will be a sustainable cause. We are working to include more locations and planning a more effective delivery route, too. We’re so thankful that many people have reached out to us to help with our cause,” says owner Tim Fernandez.

Sembang Cafe is providing Nasi Goreng Kampung and Nasi Goreng Cina (RM10 per packet), with free drinks and distribution.

Those interested to contribute, bank in your donations to Sembang Asia Maybank Account: 512754539712. Be sure to label your contribution “MCO”.

The four-star hotel teams up with Hugo’s KL and a new courier service, iSend to work closely with Persatuan Care Selangor to deliver 150 freshly-prepared meals daily to the medical workers at Sungai Buloh Hospital and Kuala Lumpur Hospital and 100 meals daily to KL Police Headquarters.

To assist with food preparation, Hotel Memoir Suites and Para Thai are donating 150 daily meals to the cause from today.

“This assistance is a small gesture to help them get through this health crisis. If individuals and corporations would like to donate, this will ensure our food preparation and meal deliveries can increase and continue long-term until April 14,” says Dato’ Indera Naresh Mohan, Chairman of Persatuan Care Selangor.
