THE Latin Woman Association of Malaysia managed to raise M158,000 for the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) through its XIV Latin Charity Ball held on Nov 11.

The event was supported by the embassies and communities of Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela in Malaysia.

The XIV Latin Charity Ball not only celebrated a night of cultural richness, but also exemplified the commitment of women supporting women in the fight against breast cancer.

The funds collected will be instrumental in supporting two critical projects undertaken by BCWA, one of which involves outreach to rural and remote areas for breast cancer clinical trials and prevention talks.

The money will also be used for the renovation of BCWA's sewing room. The sewing room is dedicated to crafting temporary prostheses for breast cancer surgery patients.

The M∙A∙C∙ Clinic was the Platinum Sponsor at this year's XIV Latin Charity Ball 2023.

"By coming together and raising funds for causes that we believe in, we are sending out a powerful message about what we care about. Together, we can make a significant impact on the communities and organisations that we support by considering the environmental, social, and governance impact of our actions in particular, and society in general," says The M∙A∙C∙ Clinic founder and medical director Dr Hew Yin Keat.

Charitable giving is not just about raising money, but also about making a positive difference in the world, adds Dr Hew.
