KUALA LUMPUR: American actor Tobey Maguire, who famously played Spider-Man in the Sam Raimi-directed Hollywood movies, has been rumoured to be in a romantic relationship with model and actress Lily Chee.
Speculation of their relationship began after Maguire, 49, was seen with his arm wrapped around the leggy 20-year-old as they were leaving a star-studded party in the Hamptons, New York last week, according to the Daily Mail.
However, it was reported that Maguire's ex-wife Jennifer Meyer had rubbished the rumours online after responding to a user via Instagram.
The person in question had apparently brought the matter to her attention in a now deleted comment that read: "Why is your ex-husband b**ging someone three years older than your daughter?"
Meyer then defended her ex-husband and said: "I don't usually respond to such nonsense, but he was kindly helping a friend to her car, being a good guy."
"And now he has been blasted online for dating someone he is not. But thank you for your rude comment, I hope it made you feel better today. Wishing you love and light," she added.
So far, neither Maguire nor Chee have made any comment on this matter.
Maguire tied the knot with Meyer, a jewelry designer, in 2007 in Kona, Hawaii but they separated in 2016. She then filed for divorce in 2020.
The two amicably co-parent their two two children, daughter Ruby, 17, and son Otis, 15.
Chee is a New York-based model and actress, whose father is a Chinese-Malaysian and mother is of Irish and Scottish descent.
Prior to partying with Chee, Maguire's last public relationship was with model Tatiana Dieteman.
