KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor Datuk Rosyam Nor, 57, does not agree with prolonged bans of controversial artistes from radio, television and films.

In a Harian Metro report yesterday, Rosyam said that artistes were "only human" and bound to make mistakes.

"None of we artistes wants to make mistakes but sometimes we do and this damages our reputations," he said.

"If producers feel that an artiste who generates controversies might damage their companies' reputations, such artistes should be made to appear less.

"It would not be fair to ban them completely because they might have a strong following and are very talented, and this would make them an asset to production companies that work with them," he said.

Rosyam added that if an artiste who appeared in productions by his film company Suhan Movies was controversial, he would lessen the said artiste's screen presence.

"We cannot be too harsh with them because if they are talented and hardworking they deserve to continue acting.

"The best we can do is make them appear less on screen until the controversies that surround them subside."

On May 30, Rosyam will appear in a new film Memoir Seorang Guru which also stars Kiki Hannah, Danish Zamri, Baqir Jamalullail, Hafiy Al Tamis and Dhia Raidah.
