ROCK legends Search  have come out with a special Hari Raya Aidilfitri song exploring the theme of self-reflection.

After more than three decades in music, the rock band from Johor Baru comprising Datuk Amy, Hillary, Nasir and Man Kidal have  come up with 'Sujud Aidilfitri' in time for their "favourite celebration of the year".

In a recent statement, Amy said  2024 was a historic year for the band, with the release of 'Sujud Aidilfitri', a "Raya song like no other".

"Unlike most Raya songs that speak of merriment and joy, Sujud Aidilfitri invites listeners to reflect on their words and deeds, and strive to be better persons with the coming of Aidilfitri," he said.

"The song depicts Hari Raya as a day of triumph for all of us who have fasted for the  month of Ramadan, and in the process achieved victory over greed and gluttony."

Amy  said  'Sujud Aidilfitri' was about seeking forgiveness for past wrongs, and reaffirming one's pledge to God to keep striving  to become a better person physically, materially and spiritually.

"'Sujud Aidilfitri' is also about not forgetting our loved ones, and reestablishing and reaffirming our blood  and emotional ties with them."

Amy added that Search chose to come up with a Raya song as it had always been a "healthy Malaysian tradition" for the country's top singers to serenade  fans with special songs to mark the occasion.

"It may be rather late for us, but then, better late than never. Search always believes that a good Raya song makes a memorable Raya celebration, and we hope that 'Sujud Aidilfitri' will be a popular song in the years to come," said Amy.

'Sujud Aidilfitri' was written and composed by Jun and Search, with Rie Tsuji as the arranger and Rozhan Razman in charge of mixing and mastering.

The song, distributed by Universal Music Malaysia, is now receiving radio airplay and features a stylish music video directed by Datuk M. Razlan Ismail featuring Search performing in Terengganu.

Nasir said: "We want to thank the Terengganu State Tourism Department for supporting the music video, which reflects the timeless and idyllic beauty of the state and its scenic villages and beaches."
