KUALA LUMPUR: Helping needy families as well as the nation's unsung heroes the frontliners is a must during the holy month of Ramadan.

Top women's talk show Wanita Hari Ini or WHI strongly believes so, and reaches out to both groups every Ramadan under its WHI Kongsi Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

This year WHI has teamed up with leading supermarket Mydin to lessen the burden of low-income families to give them a meaningful Raya and also bring festive cheer to the nation's frontliners who are unable to spend Raya with their loved ones due to work.

WHI and Mydin's Ramadan team-up was themed WHI Kongsi X Mydin Prihatin and was part of Media Prima's ongoing Ramadan Raya Macam Dulu-Dulu campaign.

It took place at the Lembah Subang 2 People's Housing Project in Petaling Jaya last Wednesday and was attended by WHI hosts Fiza Sabjahan, Fahrin Ahmad, Uyaina Arshad, Fatin Hamimah, Sugeeta Chandran and Syahira Yaacob.

They were also joined by Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad managing director Datuk Wira Ameer Ali Mydin, Media Prima Television Networks senior general manager for creative marketing and communications Farah Shamsudin and its general manager for magazines, lifestyles and talk shows Wan Sabariah Shikh Ali.

Ameer Ali also distributed 150 Mydin Boxes worth up to RM60 for the families living in Lembah Subang 2. These Ramadan gifts consisted of foodstuffs and basic necessities such as rice, flour, sugar, cooking oil, sardines, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee and face masks.

The WHI and Mydin teams also visited staff of Hospital Tunku Azizah in Jalan Pahang and traffic police on duty in Jalan Tun Razak.

They will have a Sahur event with soldiers in Johor this weekend.

The WHI Kongsi team was led by Wan Ain Afifah Nasuruddin, Shifa Noor Shaharudin, Nurnatasha Nadia Hamzah and Nurlisa Adrianna Yusharman.

The team also comprised WHI producers Muhammad Husni Ab Mahat, Nor Fariza Kamarulzaman and Noor Haslinda Ismail as well as executive producer Fiza.

The team's Ramadan activities will be screened on Wanita Hari Ini at noon today on TV3 and tonton.
