KUALA LUMPUR: "Don't make me an example. Don't make me an idol. When things are easy, you tend to forget yourself. When you hit rock bottom, only then do you pretend to be sad. Only then do you pretend to be religious. Only then do you realise, serves you right!"

These were the words of Datuk Red, husband of singer Adira, in a TikTok video message today, alluding to himself, who is currently enduring hardships in addition to being unemployed after being declared bankrupt in 2019.

Yesterday, Datuk Red uploaded a message on TikTok in his efforts to find a job where he also requested assistance from any parties that are willing to help.

"On a mission to find a job. Hope someone is willing," he wrote.

"Thank you all. I want to seek for halal sustenance for my children and to pay off my debts. May all of you be blessed," he said.

He also revealed that he had to borrow money from Adira recently to buy iftar meals for his three children from his first wife.

The video garnered various reactions from netizens who sympathised with his plight.

In today's TikTok post, Datuk Red said he was touched and expressed gratitude to netizens who sympathised with him and showed concern for his plight.

"I was looking through the comments on my new TikTok account. There are those who pray for me to be free from this problem.

"Allahuakbar. I don't even know you ladies and gentlemen. Never met, never even heard your names. But all of you are praying for me. Alhamdulillah, (you are all) very kind," he said.

Datuk Red said that while having sahur at a mamak restaurant today, there was someone who helped to pay for his meal.

"When I went to pay at the counter, they said someone had already paid for me. I don't know who it was, they just said it was already paid.

"Many Malaysians are kind-hearted. To the person who paid for my meal earlier, those who have prayed for me, and to those who sympathise with me, I pray that all of you are blessed with sustenance and success," he said.

Datuk Red said he was not angry or disappointed with his current situation.

"Just have to accept it, no problem. What's important is to blame oneself," he said.

Datuk Red and Adira were married in Songkhla, Thailand on Dec 3, 2015 where she became his second wife.

On Oct 25 last year, Adira filed for divorce from her husband at the Lower Sharia Court in Rawang, Selangor due to irreconcilable differences.

Adira had previously filed for divorce in 2019, but withdrew the application for the sake of the children.

They are blessed with four children – Anggrek, 6, Asan, 5, Anggun, 4, and Ayob, who is a year old.

Meanwhile, Datuk Red has five children from his marriage to his first wife.
