KUALA LUMPUR: Television drama producer Datuk A Aida has urged the government to blacklist all problematic artistes who bring shame to the entertainment industry.

She said in an interview with Harian Metro Online today that harsh measures against "bad behaving" artistes should be taken so that only artistes with integrity remained in the industry.

"We have to shut out all the black sheep from the entertainment industry. Artistes must be role models to their fans, and by blacklisting the bad behaving ones, all artistes will think twice before doing anything indecent, immoral or downright corrupt," said Aida.

Aida urged all production companies to shut out all artistes who have been involved in drug abuse, khalwat, domestic violence and major crimes.

"We should only allow exemplary artistes to remain in the industry. The black sheep should just get out of the industry and only come back if they have truly repented."

Aida added that in the past, problematic artistes were not allowed to appear in Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) dramas for years.

"Only a small percentage of people in the industry, about 1 per cent, have bad reputations. It is these people who should be banished from the industry for good."

Aida recently blacklisted actress Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas who was caught for khalwat by the Federal Territories Religious Department (Jawi) with Singaporean singer-actor Aliff Aziz last Saturday.

Ruhainies was supposed to star in a new drama series produced by Aida, with filming scheduled to begin next month.

"We should have a zero tolerance of home-wreckers. They break up happy marriages and make innocent wives suffer."

Aida also decided to give three drama roles to Aliff's wife Bella Astillah, as she was a talented actress who had suffered as a result of her spouse's infidelity.
