KUALA LUMPUR: "We are just close friends," said actress Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas when asked about her relationship with Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz today.
The 32-year-old Penangite was caught for khalwat with Aliff at a condominium here on Saturday.
She told 'Harian Metro Online': "Aliff and I have known each other for a decade and we have also co-starred in many drama series. That's why we are close."
Ruhainies said she would release a statement soon.
She said there were errors in news reports about their arrest and her statement would "clear the air".
"We spent only 30 minutes together, not three hours.
"And I have not issued any statement yet."
She said she had decided to issue a statement to avoid speculation on what happened between Alif and herself that night.
Ruhainies, the younger sister of 'Girlfriend Kontrak' actress Nur Risteena Munim, began her acting career in 2015, starring in drama series 'Hello Mr Perfect'.
She has appeared in more than 20 dramas and three films.
