KUALA LUMPUR: The fourth edition of Anugerah Lagu Indie 2023 (ALI2023) will see 15 local songs from the pop, rock and hip hop categories competing for the champion title at the final stage set to take place at Spacerubix, Puchong on March 7.

ALI executive producer, Ahmed Faris Amir, said the 15 best songs from the three categories were selected from 626 entries and more than 11,000 public votes received since July last year, according to a recent Harian Metro report.

He added that the fourth edition also saw the introduction of the best song for the three categories with five nominations for each.

Aside from that, an improved scoring format was implemented involving 30 per cent of online public voting and a 70 per cent scoring from a professional jury.

"The most interesting thing is the accumulated cash prize of RM36,000 waiting for the song that will be crowned as the champion on the final stage," he said during a recent event to announce the Top 5 nominated songs for the pop, rock and hip hop categories.

ALI co-executive producer, Jennifer Thompson who was also present said that the shortlisted ALI2023 finalist songs were chosen based on the quality of the tracks, all of which contain original lyrics and music.

The Top 5 for the best hip hop category are Ice Cold Castle, Candy Mind, Selain Itu, Gard O Gard and Mimpi Untuk Semalam, while the pop category is Pura, Pembunuh Malam, Stargazing, Luka and Derana.

Rounding up the Top 5 for the best rock category are Jiwa (Takhta Milik Kita), In The Haze, Inti Sari, Terra Luna and Souled Out.
