KUALA LUMPUR: Horror film "Anak Perjanjian Syaitan 2" has successfully collected RM3.5 million at the box office since it premiered in 130 cinemas nationwide on Jan 4.

Its director Dr Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri said in a statement yesterday that he was delighted that his film was getting close to its RM5 million target.

"I targeted RM5 million and it looks like I am going to achieve it," he said.

Idham credited the stellar cast with his film's success, and its focus on spiritual values which appealed to the masses.

"This is one horror movie which carries important social messages such as the dangers of dabbling in black magic," he said, adding that the film had consistently stayed in the box office Top 10 since its premiered.

"Anak Perjanjian Syaitan 2" was produced by Grand Brilliance and stars Eyka Farhana, Alif Satar, Fasha Sandha, Azlan Komeng, Dian P Ramlee, Azizah Mahzan and Shaharuddin Thamby.

It tells the story of orphan Azlinda who is persistently tormented by a demon which her late mother kept, and how a father-and-son team of religious teachers try to exorcise the malevolent spirit from her.
