KUALA LUMPUR: The 2024 Iranian Film Festival returns with six acclaimed films to provide Malaysians a glimpse into the diverse and vibrant world of Iranian cinema.

Organised by the Iran Cultural Centre here with support from the Iranian Embassy and GSC, the festival is set to take place from Feb 29 to March 10.

The captivating films include Henas, a biographical drama based on the true story of a woman who challenges her husband's involvement in Iran's nuclear programme, and The Painting Pool, a moving portrayal of a family navigating the challenges of mental illness.

Track 143 is a powerful and emotional war drama exploring themes of sacrifice and resilience and Bodyguard is a thrilling action film about a bodyguard tasked with protecting a high-ranking political figure.

The festival will also feature No Prior Appointment, a poignant drama about a woman returning to Iran after 30 years to confront her past, and Today, an award-winning film following a taxi driver who helps a pregnant woman and faces unexpected encounters at the hospital.

All screenings are free of charge, with tickets available for public redemption online on a first-come, first-served basis starting from Feb 22 at noon.

Tickets can also be redeemed at the ticketing kiosk at participating GSC cinemas.

The festival will be held at GSC Mid Valley and GSC IOI City Mall Putrajaya for four days from Feb 29 in the Klang Valley.

It will then head to Penang with screenings at GSC Gurney Plaza Penang from March 7-10.
