KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actress Maimunah Ahmad or Mak Jah, who is suffering from various health problems, has received a helping hand from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar's Instagram account yesterday revealed that the Prime Minister's political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi visited Mak Jah at her home in Cheras and presented her with financial assistance.
"Mak Jah suffers from diabetes and a nervous system ailment, and this is affecting her acting abilities. We have decided to help her with her medical expenses and we pray that she will gradually recover," said Anwar in the caption of a photo showing Ahmad Farhan and Mak Jah.
In 2016, Mak Jah was hospitalised with ovarian cancer, but beat the disease three years later.
The single mother of three has been acting since 1987.
