KUALA LUMPUR: Suzan Ahmad is waiting for the doctors' greenlight to see if liver transplant could be administered for her husband Shamsul Bakhtiar Zakaria a.k.a. Tia of Jinbara.

This was despite being told that there's no cure for cancer, except to resort to palliative care.

"For as long as I could, I'd do my best to seek treatment for him," Suzan was quoted as saying in Harian Metro today.

While doctors had not confirmed the stage of liver cancer the 53-year-old singer was at, Suzan had a hunch that it was already at the final stage.

"I've asked doctors if he could be transferred to Selayang Hospital, where experts in liver are available.

"But they needed him to be in a stable condition first before being transferred elsewhere," said Suzan who was aware that the hospital in Selayang has the facility for liver transplant procedure.

"Some friends, who are also physicians, suggested that I try India, where there are many experts in such field."

However, she added that everything now depended on whether doctors would agree if Tia's condition was suitable for the procedure.

The singer was admitted to Shah Alam Hospital last Wednesday after complaining of an abdominal pain.

After running some tests, doctors confirmed that they detected a cancerous growth in his liver.
