KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning actress Siti Saleha Baharom is marking her debut in Prime Video's first Amazon Original series from Malaysia this month.

Titled That Cover Girl, it is a romantic drama about a dynamic and ambitious fashion designer who makes a mark at Paris Fashion Week, only to see her business and reputation threatened by a looming scandal.

That Cover Girl, which will be exclusively available in Malaysia and more than 240 territories worldwide starting Oct 19 tells the story of Sofi Safwan (Siti Saleha), a triumphant figure in the fashion business with a vast empire and a husband who showers her with affection and encouragement. Regrettably, there have been some unfortunate occurrences within her business ventures, characterised by scandalous problems and a hostile work environment.

Despite these challenges, she remains unwaveringly dedicated to resolving her marital and business problems and issues, even as she contends with further complications that arise along the way.

A statement from Prime Video yesterday said that the series, produced by Creative Stew, also stars Hisyam Hamid, Alicia Amin, and Aiman Hakim Ridza.

Prime Video director for Southeast Asia David Simonsen said: "We are thrilled to be collaborating with Creative Stew to showcase Malaysia's content to a global audience.

"This is a noteworthy milestone for us, and we are eagerly anticipating how titles like That Cover Girl — featuring resilient and inspiring female characters — will captivate our audiences."

The series' director Abid Hussain said: "To have That Cover Girl launched as Prime Video's first Amazon Original series from Malaysia is truly an honour. We are excited to be able to tell a progressive Malaysian story not only to a local audience, but to the world."

He added: "Set against the backdrop of Paris and Kuala Lumpur, the series originated with the intention to champion empowerment and resilience in conquering life's obstacles, and that there is always an opportunity for self-improvement. We look forward to producing more stories that will resonate with audiences everywhere."

Siti Saleha has starred in numerous television dramas and films since 2002 such as Nora Elena, Ruby, Asmara Luna, KL Zombi, Balada Pencinta, Mamak Cupcake and Langit Cinta.
