KUALA LUMPUR: The Communications and Digital Ministry via MyCreative Ventures has allocated a second round of the Music Industry 2023 Digital Content Fund (DKD) amounting to RM12 million for music practitioners.

According to a Berita Harian report yesterday, MyCreative said the funds will be distributed via three categories with financial assistance of up to RM300,000.

"The first round of the Music Industry 2023 DKD allocation earlier this year saw a total of RM10 million being approved and awarded to 43 recipients.

"This second round of funds will provide support to more music practitioners through three main categories, namely the Music Performance Fund 2.0, the Domestic Marketability Fund 2.0 and the International Marketing and Promotion Fund 2.0," said MyCreative in a statement.

It added that in addition to developing more competitive human capital, the fund could also create a competitive music industry to produce a positive economic impact.

"Recipients will be selected based on merit and the feasibility of the application, in addition to marketability that will lead to the expansion of the country's music ecosystem," it added.

The second round of the Music Industry 2023 DKD will be open for applications from tomorrow (Sept 22).

For the Music Performance Fund 2.0 and Domestic Marketability Fund 2.0 categories, the application period will end on Nov 6.

Applications for the International Marketing and Promotion Fund 2.0 will be open until the end of the year.

Since its introduction in 2022, the Music Industry DKD under the supervision of MyCreative has succeeded in helping more than 1,500 local workers in various fields to recover during the post-pandemic period with a fund allocation of RM13 million to date.

The programme is one of the initiatives that serves to drive the creative industry and contribute to the national economy in a sustainable manner.
