KUALA LUMPUR: A veteran film director and Film Directors Association of Malaysia (FDAM) director, Ahmad Ibrahim or Mat London, who was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), has been put in an induced coma to treat his lung infection.

Mat London was hospitalised after suffering from a lung infection on June 13. He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) three days later when his condition worsened.

His son-in-law, Muhamad Daniel Ahmad, told Berita Harian that his father-in-law had to be put in a medically-induced coma due to his deteriorating lung and heart condition.

"Papa was admitted to the hospital on June 13 due to a bacterial lung infection. After being treated in the regular ward, papa was moved to the isolation ward before he was monitored closely in ICU.

"And yesterday, the situation became critical after papa became non-responsive and was in a semi-conscious state. His oxygen level and heart rate were also low and not improving," he said.

Daniel added that the veteran film director also suffered from various complications of other ailments, which put a strain on his health.

"Besides the lung infection and the heart's ability to pump blood was very weak, papa also has kidney problems," he said.

In that regard, Daniel hoped those who knew Mat London would pray for his speedy recovery.

"I urge everyone to pray for Papa to recover to his usual self after this," Daniel said.

Earlier, news on Mat London's condition was also shared by FDAM members on social media.
