KUALA LUMPUR: United States-based singer-songwriter Cheryl K is back with a soulful new song that references a popular trend on IG Reels and Instagram.

Best known for singing Money (That's What I Want) the theme song of the 2018 romantic comedy film Crazy Rich Asians, her new tune is titled He's A 10 But, and is set for release on all major music platforms come Monday.

"I wrote this R&B and pop song with my producer, Kev Luu. I wanted to shine a comedic light on various relationship red flags, thanks to personal and friends' experiences, and also leave a powerful message saying 'I'm enough'," said Cheryl whose real name is Cheryl Koh Shao May.

The 26-year-old artiste said that the song was about going through "five stages of grief" from a bad breakup to recovery.

"I've just deployed a minute-long clip of the song on IG Reels and it hit 11,000 plays within the first hour," she said.

Based in Los Angeles, Cheryl also tried her luck auditioning for American Idol last year and sang a duet, Endless Love with celebrity judge Lionel Richie.

Cheryl's most recent singles are Here To Stay, Who Are You, Better and Ready2Love, a duet with Guy Tang of Netflix's Bling Empire.

The singer-songwriter first found fame winning four gold medals including a Hollywood Industry Award and two Champion Of The World Senior Division Awards at the World Championship Of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles in 2010.

Luu is a Berklee College Of Music graduate who has worked with famous artistes as Carlos Santana, Celine Dion, Britney Spears and Channing Tatum among others.
