KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean actor O Yeong-su bagged Best Supporting Actor — Television at the 79th Golden Globe Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles, the United States on Sunday.

Yonhan News Agency reported today that the 77-year-old artiste won the award for his role as Oh Il Nam, the player numbered 001 in the phenomenal drama series Squid Game which premiered on Netflix last year.

The veteran actor beat other nominees which included Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass (from The Morning Show), Kieran Culkin (Succession), and Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso).

O has been acting for more than five decades, beginning from acting in theatre productions before moving on to films and TV.

The awards show was held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills (early this morning Malaysian time), without the presence of guests due to the current Covid-19 siutuation.
