KUALA LUMPUR: V of K-Pop sensation BTS has scored a hit with his solo song Christmas Tree which was released as part of the soundtrack for the new K-drama Our Beloved Summer.

According to Soompi, Billboard announced yesterday that the tune debuted at No.1 on its Digital Song Sales chart, which tracks the weekly ranking of the best-selling songs in the US.

The achievement sees V becoming the first Korean solo artiste to debut at the top spot of the Digital Song Sales chart with a solo track.

Aside from that, Christmas Tree has also become the first Korean OST song to top the chart.

So far, only two other tunes by a Korean solo artiste have ever taken the No.1 spot on the same chart.

Fellow BTS bandmate Suga was a featured artiste on Juice Wrld's collaborative song, Girl Of My Dreams, that also made it to the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart last month.

Gangnam Style by Psy from 2012 was another song by a solo artiste that topped the same chart but it did not make its debut on it at the No.1 spot.

Billboard later also announced that Christmas Tree had debuted at No.79 on its Hot 100 chart.

This makes V the third BTS member, following J-Hope and Suga, to chart a solo song on the particular chart.

Further adding to the success was the fact that Christmas Tree has also become the top-selling song in the US for this week.
