KUALA LUMPUR: Singer, motivational speaker and humanitarian activist Heliza Helmi, 36, is now a Datin Seri, having married businessman Datuk Seri Mahadi Badrul Zaman last Saturday.
Their solemnisation ceremony took place at Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, Putrajaya at 11.10am, and she received a gold ring and a copy of the Quran as dowry.
Wedding planner Fizz, of BenSignatures Event Wedding Planners, shared news of their marriage on Instagram that day.
He said: "It was Heliza's wish that the good news be shared with all of her fans. Congratulations to the happy couple. We wish them happiness and success."
Photographer Aqo Iman, a close friend of the couple, also shared a brief video on Instagram.
Mahadi, 38, is the founder and president of investment company AUF MBZ Consortium.
He is a motoring enthusiast, who introduced Netizens to his Jaguar which was decorated with 4,600 Hot Wheels toy cars in 2017.
Heliza, from Kuala Terengganu, was discovered in Astro Ria reality talent show Akademi Fantasia 5 in 2007. She finished fourth behind Mila Jirin, Ebi Kornelis and Aswad Jaafar.
She has starred in two films, Syurga Cinta (2009) directed by Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri and Bukan Cinta Malaikat (2017) directed by Aziz M. Osman.
