KUALA LUMPUR: KRU Music is motivating Malaysians to rebuild their lives in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic with a catchy new song aptly titled Rise Up.

The record label's president and chief executive officer Datuk Norman Abdul Halim said that Rise Up was also aimed at introducing their newest artistes namely DJ Fateh and Roman VIP.

"As an added attraction, KRU's alter ego Tyco, who were featured in the song Salawat 1442 by Duke and Tuju of K Clique last year, join Fateh and Roman in this new song," he said in a recent statement.

Norman added that the song with 20 bars was aimed at raising the spirits of Malaysians to restart their lives and rebuild their livelihoods post-Covid-19.

"Rise Up is a special song because it embeds messages of unity and mental strength to overcome life's greatest challenges," he said.

Norman added that the song was his idea, but 24-year-old Roman who hails from Melaka wrote its lyrics.

Fateh, 28, hails from Turkey and has been living in Malaysia for 11 years. He sings fluently in Malay and English.

"Rise Up is the first commercially released single composed by Syed Hazriq or SI8. At 18 years old he is our youngest composer," said Norman, adding that Syed Hazriq is also his nephew.

Rise Up has Edry Abdul Halim as its music arranger and mixing engineer. He worked on the song from his studio in Manchester, the United Kingdom where he is based.

Norman said: "This song is testament to the immense talents of the new generation of composers and artistes. KRU Music is determined to provide them with an avenue to be known and heard."

The song's music video uses state-of-the-art computer-generated images (CGI) and features Fateh, Roman and Tyco as well as personnel of KRU Music.

"The cameo appearances of KRU personnel symbolises our intitiatives to support youths in digital entrepreneurship and content creation," said Norman.

"The video is directed by Syahmi Afif and uses CGI to establish crowd scenes, even though filming was done individually for each artiste in order to follow SOP."

Rise Up is currently available on all streaming platforms.
