KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Yamani Abdillah had an accident along the North-South Highway early yesterday.

The 20-year-old son of pop legend Datuk Jamal Abdillah was on his way back to the Klang Valley from Ipoh, when he lost control of his four-wheel-drive near the Sungai Buloh Toll Plaza's exit road.

"I was driving home to Shah Alam from Ipoh around 12.20am, when suddenly I lost control of my vehicle," said Yamani in a news report today.

"A lorry was close behind, so I quickly steered the vehicle away from it. As a result, it spun around thrice, before stopping at the roadside."

Yamani added that he was thankful to be alive and unhurt, likewise the sole passenger who was his cousin.

"I thought I was going to die, but thank God I was safe. I'm lucky to be alive," he said, adding that his vehicle was badly damaged.

Yamani was later informed by fellow motorists that an accident had occurred at the same spot the day before, and claimed the life of a motorist.

"I have a little bit of a back pain, as a result of the collision impact. I had to postpone my assignment for the day, as I was shaken by the accident and needed to rest."

Yamani also said that he would not be driving at night for a while.

"The accident was a wake-up call for me to be more careful on the road. No more long-distance journeys at night for me."
