KUALA LUMPUR: International K-Pop sensation BTS will have its song, Friends, included in the original soundtrack for the upcoming Marvel superhero film Eternals.

According to Soompi, The Walt Disney Company Korea had confirmed previous news reports that the tune which was taken from the popular music group's fourth hit studio album, Map Of The Soul: 7, would be part of the new epic film's OST.

Sung by BTS members Jimin and V, Friends was released as a B-side track from the studio album in February last year.

The song revolves around a sincere message about friendship and was written, composed and produced by Jimin.

It is expected to be played in a specific scene during the upcoming feature film.

Other artistes who will have their songs on the OST include Carl Perkins, Skeeter Davis, Merle Haggard, Pink Floyd, Lizzo and more.

This marks the second time a Korean artiste has been featured in a Marvel production. The first time went to PSY's Hangover for the successful Black Panther in 2018.

Eternals is based on a comic book series of the same name that was created by legendary comics artist and writer Jack Kirby in 1976.

The story chronicles the adventures of the titular superhuman race that were birthed millions of years ago from genetic experiments conducted on Earth by mysterious being called the Celestials.

Helmed by Chinese director Chloé Zhao of Nomadland fame, the film's ensemble cast includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Ma Dong Seok, Kumail Nanjiani and Gemma Chan.

The film is expected to premiere in Malaysia on Nov 4.
