KUALA LUMPUR: Panggung Anniversari at Taman Botani Perdana is having its first concert since the Movement Control Order (MCO) ended, and it pays tribute to evergreen rock icons.

The Oct 30 concert is Rockestra Nostalgia, featuring major names of past decades as Ruhil Amani, Rahim Maarof, Ito of Blues Gang, Asheed of Def Gab C, Rahmad of Mega, and Man Bai of Gersang.

The six rock legends will be accompanied by organiser City Hall's 45-member orchestra headed by music director Isabella Pek.

Actor Lando Zawawi and singer-actress Nadia Hasnan will be co-hosting the two-hour show which begins at 9pm.

City Hall cultural director Mohd Fauzi Ahmad said that the free concert was a special treat for city folk who enjoyed homegrown rock music.

"It is also our way of saying thank you to all KL folk who have played their part in helping to curb the spread of Covid-19, and celebrate the music of legends from various decades," he said at the launch of the event at City Hall's tourism bureau in Jalan Tangsi today.

Mohd Fauzi added that each artiste would perform three to four of his or her greatest hits, and their songs would be given an orchestral touch for the first time, courtesy of the City Hall Orchestra.

"Rockestra Nostalgia is also to mark Panggung Anniversari's 54th anniversary, and as a prelude to this event we will be having a free mini concert there at 8.30pm on Saturday," he said, adding that it would feature Tam of Spider and Gerhana Ska Cinta.

City Hall will limit audiences at the outdoor concert venue to 250 people, in line with the standard operating procedures. Panggung Anniversari can accommodate a maximum of 1,500 people.
