KUALA LUMPUR: Television host and entrepreneur Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor is helping to renovate and upgrade suraus in her home state Kelantan.

Her charitable non-governmental organisation Pertubuhan Kasih Neelofa recently contributed RM500,000 for the renovation and upgrading of 21 suraus around Kelantan.

Pertubuhan Kasih Neelofa deputy chairman Noor Razlina Noor Mohamed said that the suraus were located in the districts of Kota Baru, Pasir Mas and Bachok.

"A total of RM15,000 to RM30,000 has been allocated for the renovation of each surau, depending on the condition of the house of worship.

"These suraus are very old and in dire need of repairing. If the surau building is 100 per cent damaged, a new building will be constructed to replace it," said Noor Razlina in a news report today.

Pertubuhan Kasih Neelofa will also repair suraus in other states, particularly Sabah.

Neelofa set up her non-governmental organisation in June last year, and its activities have included contributing foodstuffs to needy families affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO), assisting flood victims, and helping to repair old suraus and mosques.
