KUALA LUMPUR: It is not easy to start your own business when your reputation has taken a plunge, but Shuk Sahar is a positive-thinker.
Shuk whose real name is Mohammad Shukri Sahar has been managing his own beverage outlet Semooth Cafe in Wangsa Maju for five months now, and is happy that business has been "all right".
"The first two months were difficult, as I had to fork out my own money to set it up and constantly meet and greet customers.
"Thank God, Malaysians appreciate hard work and resilience. I am fortunate to have received support and encouragement, from fans, friends and customers all over the country," he said in a news report today.
Shuk also has a stall in Denai Alam, Shah Alam called Semoot Ngopi, which began operations yesterday.
The brainchild of his wife Rossalennah Natassiah Asshaferah or Sera, it sells coffee-based drinks.
"We plan to encourage and assist budding entrepreneurs who want to set up their own drink stalls. With RM4,000 capital they can open their own stalls and we can supply them with nine coffee flavours and a chocolate drink," he said.
In February, Shuk lost his job as a radio announcer, following revelations by Sera on Instagram that he was having an extra-marital affair. However, they subsequently reconciled.
On Aug 1, Shuk and Sera lodged a report against a woman identified as Fara Salleh at the Setapak police station. Fara claimed that Shuk was still "pursuing" her.
Shuk and Sera have been married for six years and have two daughters aged 1 and 4.
Shuk, 35, began his entertainment career participating in Astro comedian search Raja Lawak in 2011, as a member of the troupe Balas.
He has starred in films as Adnan Sempit 2 and Amir Dan Loqman Pergi Ke Laut, and comedy series as Jenaka Kampung Kalut.
He has also hosted entertainment programmes as I Can See Your Voice Malaysia, Bintang Bersama Bintang and Mentor Milenia.
