KUALA LUMPUR: After the Jom Sembang With Faridah session last month, Datuk Faridah Merican's husband Joe Hasham will be having his own online hangout event from 10am to 12pm on Aug 28.

Dubbed Jom Sembang With Joe, the casual show via Zoom will feature a Q&A session with the co-founder of The Actors Studio (TAS) and the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPaC).

Entry is by donation of RM10, RM50 or RM100 and all proceeds will be channelled to TAS and KLPaC's Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund.

Joe will be sharing about his years growing up in Australia, how he got into theatre and what led him to move to Malaysia, his adopted home country of almost 40 years.

Many may not know that before he left, he was one of the most sought after actors in Australia.

He was and still is known for his iconic role as lawyer Don Finlayson who appeared in 297 episodes of the hit prime-time Australian serial Number 96 from 1972 to 1977.

His love for performing arts started from his schooling days at the age of 14 where he signed up for a countrywide theatre festival (Genesian Drama Festival).

He went on to graduate from National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1968.

In 2009, Joe was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in honour of his service to the performing arts industry through TAS and KLPaC, and as an actor, writer, producer and director.

Born in Tripoli, Lebanon, Joe still speaks Arabic and a rundown of the best Lebanese dishes to sample is just a question away.

Registration for Jom Sembang With Joe is via https://bit.ly/register_jomsembang.

Questions can be submitted in advance in the online registration form, or posted during the live virtual sembang session.

A Zoom link will be sent after registration and payment is completed.
