KUALA LUMPUR: Bobby of iKON had taken a fall off the stage recently during the South Korean hip-hop group’s recent concert at Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe.
Although the rapper didn't suffer any serious injuries, fans were angered at the group’s agency YG Entertainment's staff for overlooking their favourite stars’ safety.
A video of the incident had gone viral, showing how Bobby had taken a pretty deep stumble off the stage.
Bobby seemed to be absorbed in performing that he was unaware that the stage-life he was stepping on was already lowered before he could get on it.
Soon after, the hashtag “#YG_Protect_iKON” started trending on Twitter.
@ikonkeeper Tweeted: “iKON is doing their job. Even performing twice a day eventho they're tired. WHY CANT YALL DO YOUR JOB TOO??! KEEP THEM SAFE!!"
Apparently this wasn't the first incident to raise anger from iKON fans in relating to the group's seven members’ well-being.
@hyunbyns wrote on Twitter: “this hashtag isn’t just for today’s incident, but also for overworking the boys for months on end, tour after tour”
Instagram user @divajunhoe wrote: “I’m so sick of YG, he’s overworked the boys by sending them on tours WHILE they’re preparing for their comeback, you’re already (working) them like robots, why can’t you at least take care of their safety? is that too much to ask?”
The fans also started to boycott iKON's activities and merchandise again in protest.
They had first done so last August when they felt that the boys had too many activities on their plate, and that they didn’t promote in South Korea enough.
However, amidst the uproar on various social media platforms, YG Entertainment has yet to release a statement in response.
