KUALA LUMPUR: He is known for creating the rom-com phenomenon Suri Hati Mr Pilot and Hero Seorang Cinderella, and is currently busy on the set of Coffee Prince.
So what’s next for red hot director Michael Ang? After tales of men and women in love, he’s thinking of something a little more serious.
“After I wrap up the drama series Coffee Prince, I’ll be coming up with a telemovie on hermaphrodites. The title will reflect this too,” said Ang in a recent news report.
He added that it wasn’t a ploy to garner cheap publicity or to sensationalise the issue.
Realising that the subject was somewhat of a taboo matter locally that not many talk about, he said: "I want the public to get an honest and better understanding on what it really is and what these people go through in life.”
The director of Kimchi Untuk Awak said that he had so far been accommodating the market demand for romantic comedies.
“I haven’t made serious works in a while, like Kulit and Racun Menantu. So let me get back to trying out something heavier next.”
“The telemovie will approach the subject from a humanistic angle and I hope that fans will not judge or criticise it yet until after they’ve watched it, so wait for it,” he said.
Keeping tight lipped about who the cast of the telemovie will comprise of, Ang teased that all would be revealed soon.
