Local fashion house Wanzar has joined the sustainable fashion drive with its new casual women's wear line, made with 100 per cent organic cotton.

Featuring loose cut inspired by the baju kurung, this eco-friendly collection is a play on the force of nature — with oversized tops and ankle-length pants that are airy and light, perfect for the Malaysian heat.

A departure from its elegant bridal wear, Wanzar's newest line is a back-to-basic that embodies the simple comfort and casual spirit of daily Malaysian life.

With six minimal designs and 17 solid colours to choose from, every piece is versatile to be mixed and matched across the collection.

Wanzar founder Abu Zarin Abdullah says there's a stereotype that just because something looks fashionable, it doesn't last long or that it's difficult to match with other clothes.

The brand departs from bridal wear to offer women a line crafted from organic cotton.

"This new collection is our way of proving that wrong, especially in our current era of fast fashion. Creating closet staples for everyday urban life was our mission going in, but we were also committed to doing our part in sticking true to our local roots and good manufacturing practices,"

Inspired by the modern women, four sets stand out in this casual collection. In vivid pops of colour under the Astrid collection, customers have the choice of going for a bold, carefree look with Lime Green or Barbie Pink, or to opt for a more subtle, mysterious look in Navy Blue and Dark Purple.

Abu Zarin hopes this collection will resonate with Malaysia's environmentally conscious consumers, looking for the perfect blend of style and sustainability.

"Using sustainably-sourced organic cotton, we manifest the practice of mixing and matching clothes and nurturing fashion that's versatile and wearable, long term," he says.
