The brand may have an odd name, but I'm From, a Korean skincare label with a strong link to nature, hopes to use nature's gifts sustainably through its delightful skincare products.

Brand manager Kyunghye Kim says as those who live on Earth, we must share a harmonious, symbiotic relationship with nature.

She says the brand strongly believes in the simple and beautiful concept of slow cosmetics.

"We extract natural ingredients sustainably, in the most ecological way. Our primary customers are those who are not only interested in nourishing and effective ingredients but also eco-conscious and value the origins of the products they use," she says.

Kim says despite the onslaught of K-beauty brands in the market, I'm From is different.

"Aside from the ingredients that we use to formulate each range, the extensive research conducted to cultivate the ingredients that are safe for both the environment and the skin makes us stand out.

"We observe the principle of minimal processing for maximum effects when obtaining natural ingredients for our products. Our goal is to also create one-of-a-kind products."

For its Malaysian debut, the brand offers range from its honey line, including the mask and serum.

CLEAN CULTIVATION

To formulate a product, Kim says the brand first decides on its function when applied on the skin.

"Then we'll start sourcing for natural ingredients that will enhance that said function. We get ingredients from the farms in Korea that practise clean cultivation methods and we work with them to maximise the benefits, keeping the ingredients in their most natural state without losing their efficacies and function," she says.

From processing raw ingredients to product packaging, Kim says the brand looks for ways to protect the environment.

"We minimise plastic use by reducing unnecessary packaging and using recycled and reusable materials."

FOR LOCAL CLIMATE

For the country's hot and humid climate, Kim recommends three products: the Mugwort Essence, Fig Scrub Mask and Vitamin Tree Water Gel.

"The essence has excellent soothing properties and repairs damaged skin barrier from prolonged exposure to fine dust and friction from face masks.

"I also use the Fig Scrub Mask to exfoliate and remove surface dead skin. The Vitamin Tree Water Gel works excellently to hydrate the skin," she says.

Instead of a double-digit skincare step, Kim believes that basics are best. Her morning routine includes cleansing, using a toner, moisturising essence and moisturising cream.

"I maintain the same routine in the evening but periodically, I will exfoliate after cleansing.

"When it comes to skincare, sticking to the basics may be best for your skin," she says.
