JOEY Mattress was founded to make it simpler for consumers to buy good quality mattress. After all, we spend seven to eight hours in bed every night, so it's a purchase we cannot take lightly.

The brand has expanded into pillows and has dropped another product to its line-up to help users get better sleep.

Launched today, the Joey Blanket is designed for movie marathons, cosy snuggling and for kids, the ultimate blanket forts.

It's made of shell fabric and filling with 100 per cent hypoallergenic polyester fibres. It weighs 300gsm.

The blanket is designed to be purposeful and playful, like a blanket fortress for kids.

Founder Winson Chong says the blanket provides blanket-wide puffy goodness with evenly-placed blanket filling for even temperature distribution so users don't feel hot.

"It's breathable and moisture-wicking for you to stay cool and sweat-free all night long," he says.

"You can use with or without a blanket cover. It's designed to look great on your bed either way. Also, since no animal down is used in this blanket, the specially sanitised and treated polyester filling is hypoallergenic," he says.

He says that the item is a tribute to our childhood blankie, and a symbol of the wonderful memories that are yet to be made.

MY TAKE

Personally, I find the blanket too thick for my liking, and because it's heavy, I find it cumbersome to put it in a cover. Once that's done though, it's fluffy and comfortable for a night's sleep.

The brand delivers its promise-- that it doesn't get too hot at night, especially if you are not sleeping with air-conditioning.

While heat is not an issue, I think weight is. I find it hard to toss around while being under it. My only hope is that, after a few washes, it gets softer and thinner.

However, I would use this as a makeshift mattress if I want to laze on the living room floor. If you have a guest over and need a thin mattress, this one does the trick perfectly.

The workmanship, however, is impressive. I like the square grid so the filling doesn't clump and is distributed evenly. I also appreciate the piping. It makes the blanket look instantly presentable, even without a cover.
