THE main collection for H&M’s designer collaboration with Giambattista Valli was released on Nov 7, following a limited drop last May. It consists of 41 pieces for women and 31 for men, as well as 34 accessories.

The collection has all the hallmarks of Valli’s over-the-top style, but at a fraction of the price. Befitting its grand style, the collection was presented at Rome’s Palazzo Doria Pamphilj and led by top model Kendall Jenner.

Outstanding pieces in the women’s selections include the red high-low tulle gown at RM1,499, modelled by Jenner in the campaign image. There are also a number of frilly dresses in mini and maxi lengths, faux fur jackets and bejewelled sweaters.

On the accessories front, the eye-catching lace booties are priced at RM1,099, while the tiny sling bags are perfect for a night out. Floral scarves, logo tights and pearl earrings will complete the look.

Meanwhile, the men’s collection is rich with European baroque details. The structured tailcoat with a high collar (RM1,099) will not look out of a place in a palace setting although there’s a denim shirt with a similar floral embellishment for those wanting something less ostentatious.

Carrying on the classical theme are jackets and bags printed with baroque-style paintings. Animal prints also feature heavily, with tiger and leopard patterns on sweaters, trousers and underwear.
