KUALA LUMPUR: As part of the Ministry's post-flood operations, Maxis and the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) delivered essential food aid for the Johor communities affected by the recent floods.

One thousand food boxes have been allocated for distribution to the impacted families located by Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia (JAPEN) under KKD.

At the handover ceremony, Maxis joined Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil in handing over the first 200 food boxes to Kampung Sungai Tiram, Kampung Simpang Mados, and Kampung SC families.

Maxis' volunteers from the South region distributed the food boxes alongside JAPEN.

Fahmi said his Ministry is committed to helping Johor's predicament with relief efforts.

"There are many families who are in dire need of assistance which includes essential food items. As Malaysians, we have a duty to help one another in times of need, and I am encouraged to see corporates like Maxis coming on board to support our relief operations," he said.

Maxis' chief corporate affairs officer, Mariam Bevi Batcha said with many displaced and livelihoods affected, they are committed to collaborating with the Ministry to ease the burden of those impacted.

With Maxis' aid, their engineers have continued to monitor its network performance in affected areas and taken initiatives to restore services to minimise connectivity disruptions.

There's also portable gensets deployment at power failure areas, damaged equipment replacements from submerging sites, and free WiFi installation at several temporary relief centres (PPS) in Johor and Pahang.

Drones were used in inaccessible areas for aerial assessments as site restoration efforts.

Maxis has also undertaken proactive measures to minimise equipment damage from rising water levels, such as raising equipment platforms or shelters.

Backup transmission links are also enabled for service continuity and to avoid widespread outages.
