KUALA LUMPUR: The new search function by Google Search On helps unlock new ways for people to gather, explore and navigate information intuitively with an advanced visual search that is more natural than before.

Google senior vice president, Prabhakar Raghavan said making sense of the world the way humans do is a huge challenge for computers and we are getting closer by making huge leaps in computer science.

"We're now able to understand the information in its many forms from language, to images to the things in the world. With this deeper understanding, we're going far beyond the search box to create search experiences that work like our minds that are as multidimensional as people are," he said.

SEARCH

With Lens, users can search the world with their camera or an image.

Google has made visual search more natural with Multisearch for users to take a picture or use a screenshot and add text to it - similar to us pointing at something and asking questions about it.

The Multisearch is available in English globally and will have over 70 languages in the upcoming months.

With 'multisearch near me', users can snap a picture or a screenshot of an item and instantly find it nearby.

According to Google, "Multisearch near me" will start rolling out in English in the US later this fall.

Moreover, Lens has upgraded from translating text to translating images with people using Google to translate text into images multiple times across more than 100 languages.

With the new Lens translation update, simply point your camera at a foreign-language poster and you'll instantly get the translated text overlaid onto the pictures underneath.

Google is also putting helpful tools beginning with the Google app for iOS.

Users will get shortcuts under the search bar to shop their screenshots, translate the text with their cameras, hum to search, and more.

EXPLORE INFORMATION

Google is helping users to ask questions with fewer words - or none at all - and explore information organizedly.

Therefore, Google is rolling out a feature that will provide relevant content promptly before users finish typing.

And for those without a topic angle, Google will introduce search experiences for users to explore relevant topics such as providing keyword or topic options for users to navigate relevant results.

Google is also highlighting the most relevant and helpful information, including content from creators on the open web such as visual stories and short videos of people who have visited a city, tips on how to explore the city, things to do, and more for travels.

Apart from showing users topics to delve into or finding a new subject direction, users can add or remove topics when zooming in and out, as well as discover unfamiliar things.

By reimagining the way Google displays results, users will see various relevant content from sources in several formats - text, images, or video - and get inspired as they scroll along.

These new ways to explore information will be available in the coming months, to help wherever curiosity takes you.

MAP LAUNCHES

Google is innovating its 2D map to be more visual and immersive for users to experience it in a multidimensional way.

With the neighbourhood vibe, users can see the popular spots come to life on Android and iOS in the coming months.

The Landmark aerial views will let users see 250 photorealistic aerial views of key global landmarks like Tokyo Tower and Acropolis from Google Maps. This launches globally on September 28.

For Immersive view, it combines stunning aerial views with what the weather, traffic, and crowds will be like on a day and time. It will launch in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo in the coming months.

And with Live View, simply lift your phone to find essential places like ATMs and restaurants.

Finally, developers will enable eco-friendly routing in their apps and select engine types to get the best route, and more accurate fuel or energy efficiency estimates. It will be available in preview later this year (currently in the US, Canada, and countries across Europe).

SHOPPING LAUNCHES

Google will also announce new products and tools for an easier shopping experience like the 3D Shoes in Google Search that will be available in the US in the coming months.

Thanks to Google's machine learning advancements, they can automate 360-degree spins of merchants' sneakers using multiple still photos (will be available in the US in early 2023).

For complex purchases, the Buying Guide will provide insights into the category from multiple trusted resources for a decisive and quicker decision. This will be available in the US on September 28.

Not to mention, the Whole Page Filters are now dynamic and adapt based on real-time Search trends and will be available soon in selected Europe countries.
