KUALA LUMPUR: Professional services company in digital, cloud and security, Accenture Malaysia, will be hosting a month-long career fair for technology talents in the Metaverse called the Accenture Careerverse starting from April 22, 2022.

Actively exploring the Metaverse for recruitment, employee training, employee engagement and business application, Entropia – part of Accenture Interactive developed and designed the fair as a way to connect with the generation that increasingly interacts in a parallel world.

"The Accenture Careerverse is a window to what careers and recruitment could look like within the metaverse in the foreseeable future, and Accenture Malaysia is taking the lead in that area," said Accenture's Entropia Extended Reality head and managing director, Ramakrishnan C.N.

Accenture Careerverse, candidates will be able to chat with recruiters live, interact with leaders from global tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, AWS and SAP.

The last two years have spurred enterprises to explore new modes of digital experience and pushed people to live virtually to an extent they never expected and the fair is in line with the recent launch of the Advanced Technology Centre in Malaysia which aims to hire 2,000 tech talents in the next few years, contributing to the MyDigital ambition of creating 500,000 jobs in the digital economy.

"This is just the start of a journey, and we see the Accenture Careerverse evolving to become an integral career-focused part of the overall Metaverse Continuum -- a spectrum of digitally enhanced worlds, realities, and business models poised to revolutionise life and enterprise over this decade and the next," added Ramakrishnan.

The immersive experience would not be the first time the company rolls out future technologies to recruit talent as the company was first to use VR headsets to give university students an experiential glimpse of life in Accenture.

According to a study conducted by Accenture research, the Metaverse is emerging as a natural evolution that reconciles how the internet is designed today and 72 per cent of respondents in Malaysia stated that the Metaverse will have a positive impact on their organisation in the future.

The Metaverse promises to go beyond email, video conferencing, and chat to create a digital centre of gravity for organisations and teams. In the long run, as the physical and digital worlds converge, we will have the ability to collaborate seamlessly across extended reality environments.

"There is a huge competition for top technology talent in the country. Even as Accenture Malaysia set up its Advanced Technology Centre to serve global clients, we have also seen a huge wave of demand for tech skills at the local level.

"Our studies have shown that at least 58 per cent of companies here are already preparing their workforce for a more automated and AI-powered future," said Accenture Malaysia country managing director, Azwan Baharuddin adding that the Careerverse aims to attract top talent within the country to join other experts within the business and drive innovation across the Accenture global delivery network to our clients around the world.

In the Accenture Careerverse, candidates will be able to chat with recruiters live, interact with leaders from global tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, AWS and SAP, and score a live interview with recruiters as it aims to recruit technology talents especially in the retail and financial services sector.
