KUALA LUMPUR: For those holding out for one, note that there will be no manual transmission variant of the latest Perodua Myvi.

Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the decision was made based on sales results of the previous generation Myvi.

Of the 277,329 units of the third generation Myvi sold, manual transmission only account around 1 per cent of total sales.

"We had considered having a manual variant but with only 1 per cent of take up (of the 3rd Gen) it made more sense to drop it for now," said Zainal.

He added that the pandemic situation has prompted the company to make more informed decisions and only the Axia will continue to have manual transmission.

"Even for the Axia the decision is less about sales and more for infrastructure and services related such as for driving school use.

The 2021/22 Myvi comes in five variants: RM 47,700 for the 1.3G (RM 45,700 without Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) system), RM 49,900 for the 1.5 X, the 1.5 H at RM 53,900, and the top-end 1.5 AV is priced at RM 58,800. All prices applicable for Peninsular Malaysia, without insurance and excluding Sales Tax.

Perodua has sold some 1.3 million Myvi units at present since the range was first introduced in May 2005.
