KUALA LUMPUR: Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has sealed the first Scania Ecolution truck agreement signing in Asia at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2019.

The Scania Ecolution is a tailor-made partnership between Scania and customers that helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This is achieved through vehicle optimisation and agreed fuel and CO2 emissions reduction targets.

"I will not share each and every company's targets but it is about the range of 6 to 10 per cent," said Scania Southeast Asia managing director Marie Sjodin Enstrom at a press conference.

The progress to reach the targets will be regularly monitored, evaluated and discussed with the Scania Ecolution Manager to ensure the desired result. Scania Ecolution focuses on reducing operating cost translated to improved profitability while fulfilling the growing demand for green initiatives.

"We believe that sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand and Scania Ecolution will facilitate the shift towards a sustainable transport system. This is a holistic approach towards a more responsible and sustainable transportation of people and goods," said Enstrom .

Four companies have signed the Scania Ecolution truck agreement at MCVE, which are Aone Logistics Sdn Bhd, Naidu Trans Logistics Sdn Bhd, Gateway Shipping Sdn Bhd and Heng Seng and Co.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Malaysia's deputy transport minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar and the Swedish Ambassador to Malaysia Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt.

Enstrom added that the Scania Ecolution could help to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 50 per cent depending on the operations of the company.
