MERCEDES-Benz has introduced its EQ (Electric Intelligence) concept to showcase its cars of the future in Malaysia.

At an event on Thursday, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) president and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner said the concept was an introduction to EQ, a holistic approach to the future of mobility, services, technology and innovation.

“The Concept EQ is a cornerstone of our new electric mobility brand, EQ. It presents an innovative product approach as part of a holistic and comprehensive ecosystem for future mobility. In every way, this vehicle proudly manifests its claim of being a technology leader — meeting the demands of sustainable and future-driven motoring.”

Weidner said as the premium market leader, Mercedes-Benz was committed to remaining an industry pioneer with state-of-the-art products and innovations.

“In short, we are boldly flipping the switch — creating tomorrow today by developing the needs for the coming mobility landscape,” he said.

Also present was Mark Raine, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice-president for sales and marketing, passenger cars.

Meanwhile, Weidner said by 2022, Mercedes-Benz would have an electric variant for every segment from compact cars to sport utility vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz has launched EQ as a holistic approach to future mobility with a comprehensive suite of services, technologies and innovations, joining the brand portfolio alongside Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach.

The Mercedes-Benz C 350 e and E 350 e plug-in hybrids (PHEV) will be relaunched under the EQ brand.
