KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia maiden effort to produce 16 sustainable development goal (SDG) reports for each state and federal territory, shows an improvement in 68 per cent, or 99 of SDG indicators, of available data for 2022.

The United Nations' (UN) SDG is a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

For the first time this year, DoSM published reports for each state and federal territory, along with five reports on SDG focus areas namely, people, prosperity, planet, peace and partnership.

The published indicators at the state and district levels can be used by state governments and local authorities to monitor and formulate the framework for the implementation of SDG at their respective state and district level.

This initiative aligns with the Mid-Term Review of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP MTR), which emphasises efforts to expand the implementation of SDG at the local level and empower state governments, local authorities and local communities.
